The Project & Educational Program: For the 2017 academic year, the kindergarten's "Artist of the Month" program explored the theme of "Book - Language". Each month, students were introduced to a different professional—authors, bookbinders, illustrators, narrators, composers, and animators—learning firsthand about the entire journey of creating a book.
Client: “J. M. Carras” Kindergarten (Athens College) Services: Art Direction, Visual Communication, Typography, Print & Large Scale Design
The Design Approach (The Concept): For the visual communication of the program, I wanted the students to be active co-creators. The core design element was bold, large-scale typography. Inside these massive letterforms, I integrated authentic illustrations that I specifically asked the kindergarten children to draw. The final artwork was a beautiful dialogue between structured typographic design and pure childhood imagination.
Deliverables: This collaborative visual identity was applied across a comprehensive suite of materials. The deliverables ranged from the main informational posters and large-scale environmental banners to event invitations and custom CD covers for the students’ projects.
