Custom Pattern Design for Zoe Stergiou

Project Description: In this exciting collaboration with fashion designer Zoe Stergiou, I undertook the creation of exclusive, repeating (seamless) patterns for her new collection. The goal was to integrate the brand's rich heritage through exclusive prints designed to dress high-quality textiles, highlighting the elegance and aesthetic of the garments.

Project: Custom Pattern Design – Zoe Stergiou (Fashion Designer)

Services: Pattern Design, Textile Design

Client: Zoe Stergiou

Design Collaboration: Marilena Dimitropoulou

The Approach:
The Hallmark as the Cornerstone The central axis of the entire design process was utilizing the brand’s iconic flower hallmark. This geometric, symmetrical flower was not merely a decorative element but the “genetic” foundation from which all patterns emerged.

Decoding & Recomposition:
The process began by analyzing the geometry of the original flower. Every curve, petal, and overall structure was studied to become the structural motifs for creating the tiles.

The Design & Variations: The designs was executed in creative collaboration with Marilena Dimitropoulou, based on this philosophy, patterns were designed with differing vibes, yet all infused with the DNA of the hallmark:

  • Geometric & Retro Vibes (The Literal Interpretation): Creation of dynamic motifs (seen in the tile and orange pattern images). Here, the geometric flower was used almost entirely as-is or in slight variations, forming interlocking blocks that overlap, with high-contrast color palettes (black, orange, baby blue) for a statement result.
  • Ethereal & Romantic Swirls (The Stylistic Evolution): Design of a softer, intricate pattern with organic, curved lines and paisley elements. Even in this less strictly “geometric” design, the structure and flow of the lines draw inspiration from the original flower’s curves, offering a delicate and romantic feel on the flowing shirts (dusty pink and lilac).

The Technique (From Logo to Seamless Tile): The tile (the pattern block) for each design was meticulously constructed with the hallmark flower at its center. Extraordinary care was taken to ensure the pattern repeat was perfectly harmonious and “seamless” (no visible seams), guaranteeing a perfect result when printing on large fabric surfaces, regardless of the design’s complexity.

The Result: The transformation of digital design into physical fabric, and finally, into finished, elegant garments. The patterns integrated perfectly with the lines of Zoe Stergiou’s clothing, embracing body movement and imbuing the collection with a unique, custom character that honors the brand’s history.
