Project: Architecture Competition
Client: “Ioannis M. Karras” Kindergarten (The College) Services: Poster Design, Concept Creation
The Project & The Challenge: The “Ioannis M. Karras” Kindergarten dedicated an entire school year to Architecture. Through an experiential learning program based on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) principles, the children were introduced to basic spatial concepts (such as scale, light, and shadow), experimented with various materials, and built their own architectural models. The brief was to design the main poster for the school’s participation in the international Golden Cubes Awards competition, which needed to reflect this creative and educational journey.
The Design Approach (The Concept):
To visualize the children’s hands-on experience with architecture, I decided to use the school’s actual space as my primary canvas. I took the real architectural floor plan of the kindergarten complex, photographed it, and used it as the foundation to digitally “build” the poster upon it.
This conceptual choice served a highly symbolic purpose: the school’s floor plan acts as the “foundation” where students explore, learn, and create their own structures, beautifully bridging their everyday physical environment with the science of architecture.
